CONCEPT
“Karakuchi Dry but with a modern feeling” and “Karakuchi Dry but Junmai Daiginjou”
Within the standard products of this brewery are the “Karakuchi +12” and “Kanzen hakkou Chou karakuchi junmai ginjou (Fermentation fully finished extra dry junmai ginjou)” which have a pretty much classical taste. Compared to that, we made a modern type extra dry sake, by changing the kouji and the yeast, so that it brings out a fresh and juicy sense of sweetness.

This record of awards are an evidence of the high level skills.
Established in 1946, Joukigen is a merge of 5 breweries: Otokoyama (男山), Yourou (養老), Fujiya (藤屋), Chisatoi (千里井) and Tama no Kawa(玉の川), and is the only brewery remaining in the Sakata town area. They have been pursuing from a very early stage the ultimate sake brewing, even when the recent ginjou boom had not started yet.
In the most important sake competition, the Japan Sake Awards, hold every year by the Bureau of Taxation, they have not only got the Gold Medal for 5 years in a row, but also got the Gold Medal 15 times, from the 20 times that it has been held. From this, one can infere with no doubt the high level of the techniques of this brewery.
