CONCEPT
This is it! Combining “tradition and innovation”, the new-feeling sake created by the 37 years old, 27 th generation brewery owner.
In the new brand that Saitou Masaaki, the 27 th generation brewery owner has created, there is a sake called “Hiten”. He brews this sake observing the traditional and ancient method called Yamahai, but at the same time he pursues to brew “a new taste” and “a sake for the new generations”. A sake with a new feeling was born from the conviction that “we won’t be recognized if we do not brew a sake with a completely different taste that has not been tried by other brewers”. “Sour Boy” and “Sour Girl”, are original products of these series, they were brewed with their own sense of harmony, and seasoned with our requests.
Brewery / HIRAIZUMI-HONPO
Established in 1487 (Muromachi Period). The oldest brewery in the Touhoku region, and the third oldest brewery in all Japan.
For someone who has been working long in the sake business, is impossible not to know the brand “Hiraizumi”, from the Akita Prefecture. This brewery has the most ancient history in the Touhoku region, and countrywide is the third oldest, been established in 1487 (in the Muromachi Period). In that year, the 8 th Shougun, Ashikaga Yoshimasa founded in Higashiyama, Kyoto, the temple Ginkakuji, so it is a very well known era in the Japanese history, that even appears on the Social History books. From that, this brewery inherits an unbelievable long and ancient history and tradition.
The origin of the name “Hiraizumi”, comes from the word “exceptionally good, white water”. Also, the most peculiar sake brewing method, that has been cultivated from long ago, the “Yamahai preparation”, offers a taste that does not bores the palate, and a strong body that prevents the flavor from going bad.
Design / CONICO(Kaya Hiroya / Yuki Takahashi)
Design group formed by Kaya Hiroya and Takahashi Yuki, with a dual perspective of “illustration and graphic design”.
CONICO is a wordplay from the Japanese writting () that was transformed to CO=CO, where “CO” is the reading of the Japanese letter for “individuality (個)”. Their ideal is to
share and create from one and one individuality.
They create from a proposal where they have made the best out of their styles, and proactively share several layers of individualities.
